INTRODUCING THE 3SHAPE TRIOS INTRAORAL SCANNER
Say goodbye to messy dental impressions!
TRFD is proud to incorporate the latest technology into our practice to ensure that you receive the highest quality dental experience.
Traditionally, dental impressions have required that we take a physical ‘impression’ of your mouth using a messy ‘putty-like’ material called Alginate. The impression is then sent to a lab to create what is required for individual treatment. This process can be an uncomfortable mouthful for some people and just plain messy for everyone!
With the TRIOS scanner, we are able to scan the teeth and email the “impression” to our lab digitally!
Some benefits include:
o Scans are immediately sent to labs to begin the fabrication process- Quicker Turnaround!
o Fewer appointments needed
o Fewer “remakes” due to the incredible accuracy of the scans.
o More comfortable than traditional impressions
o Less intimidating for small children who may be scared
In addition to the benefits listed above, the scanner also uses a RealColour feature that showcases your mouth in its natural and ‘true colours’ thus making it easier to evaluate for proper treatment and/or improving colour matching techniques.

EMS Airflow Technology
Minimally invasive teeth cleaning!
Visiting your dentist for a comprehensive check-up and clean is an important part of maintaining good oral health, but we know that some people find the experience uncomfortable. That's why at Tongarra Road Family Dental we've introduced EMS Airflow® technology. This minimally invasive approach delivers a high standard of cleaning in less time and involves less direct contact with dental instruments. The EMS Airflow® system is a new approach to teeth cleaning and polishing; that is less invasive and can in turn improve the overall patient experience.
How does EMS Airflow® work?
EMS Airflow® uses a combination of air, warm water and ultrafine powder to help remove plaque, calculus and certain stains from tooth surfaces.
We begin cleaning and polishing your teeth and other parts of your mouth using EMS Airflow® instruments to remove plaque and calculus. Although these instruments won't contact your teeth directly, you may feel a light sensation from the air and water.
Air-polishing is the method of removing biofilm and stains with the help of kinetic energy. Using a mixture of air, corresponding powders and warm water... teeth, implants and soft tissue are effectively yet gently cleaned.
