Denture Treatment & Referrals

While we no longer fabricate dentures in-house, we are committed to guiding you through every stage of your treatment. We provide comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, any required extractions, and preparatory procedures to ensure your mouth is healthy and ready for your new denture. We work closely with trusted local prosthetists and specialists to ensure a seamless referral process and excellent outcomes.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are designed to replace one or several missing teeth while preserving your remaining natural teeth.

Our role includes:

  • Comprehensive examination and treatment planning

  • Digital X-rays and assessment of remaining teeth

  • Any necessary fillings, cleans, or gum treatment

  • Extractions (if required) prior to denture fabrication

Once your mouth is stable and healthy, we will refer you to a trusted prosthetist for the construction and fitting of your custom partial denture.

Full Dentures

Full dentures are used when all teeth in the upper or lower arch need to be replaced. Careful preparation is essential to ensure comfort, fit, and long-term success.

Patients generally have two options:

One: Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are made prior to your extractions and inserted on the same day your teeth are removed. This means you are never without teeth during the healing period.

  • Provides an immediate cosmetic solution

  • Helps protect healing tissues

  • Discuss the process for adjustments and relines at the prosthetist as the gums heal and change shape

Two: Dentures After Healing

Alternatively, you may choose to have your dentures made after the gums have fully healed following extractions.

  • Allows for more accurate fit once healing is complete

  • May reduce the need for early adjustments

  • Requires a healing period without teeth (or with a temporary solution discussed in advance)

Our role includes:

  • Assessment of remaining teeth and gums

  • Planning and performing required extractions

  • Discussing the most suitable option for you

  • Monitoring healing and gum health

  • Coordinating referral to a qualified local denture professional for fabrication and fitting

Implant-Retained Dentures

Implant-retained dentures offer improved stability and comfort compared to traditional dentures. They are supported by dental implants placed in the jawbone, helping to reduce movement and improve chewing function.

The process generally involves:

  1. Comprehensive consultation and suitability assessment

  2. Treatment planning, quoting and imaging

  3. Placement of dental implants

  4. Healing period to allow implants to integrate with the bone

  5. Referral to denture prosthetist for denture modification or fabrication

  6. Fitting of the implant-retained denture

We provide the initial assessment, treatment planning, and any required extractions or preparatory treatment. When required, we can also refer to experienced implant specialist and prosthetists, ensuring coordinated care throughout the entire process.

If you are considering dentures or would like to explore your options, our team is here to guide you and help you determine the most suitable solution for your smile and lifestyle.
